An adult cormorant was fishing on the Haugh and I was immediately drawn to it by its most strikingly vibrant and “different" courtship plumage and its electric blue eye. Sadly, I didn’t get to see the full bird and, in particular, the white patch on the side, above the legs and just below the wings, which, I understand, only appears when the adults are in their courtship plumage.
