This bird had dark mottling at the division between black and grey on primary 8 plus a dark smudge and thin dark shaft line on the outermost primary covert indicating some degree of immaturity and thus most likely a 4th calendar year bird. However, for medium-sized gulls, the 2022 gulls identification book by Adriaens et al says a few fully adult birds may retain such immature traits.
