CORNCRAKE: Corncrake, 25-04-2023, Colin MacConnachie, Isle of Barra, Outer Hebrides
The corncrakes had only been back in the vicinity for about a week but already three pairs were calling regularly. This bird spent his time commuting between three clumps of dog-rose thickets. Surprisingly he often walked openly between the clumps and provided the best opportunity I have ever had to photograph this usually shy species.
Equipment used was a Nikon Z6 with a 300 F4 PF lens and a 1.4 convertor

The Heron was rested up in a low lying bush when a Kingfisher made it's call this caused the Heron to jump out of cover hence the startled look and lucky shot.
Nikon Z9,400mm f4.5 plus 1.4 Teleconverter shot taken at 20 frames/sec with gave me choice of frames.
