I watched this male Goosander catch the unfortunate frog before flying off with it in his beak to present it to a female Goosander some 50 yards away, following which both the male and the female indulged in mating displays.

It was notable, to the extent that these Mallards were witnessed mating, that the duck species are getting more than ready for the breeding season. In December, it seems very early for that behaviour, but I suppose it's representative of climate change and the times in which we are living.

In December, it seems very early for that behaviour, but I suppose it's representative of climate change and the times in which we are living. This male Goldeneye was performing the ritual rising out of the water, arching his body and neck back and calling at the same time....lovely to witness.
