Grunt-whistle: Teal, 08-02-2023, Richard Whitson, Cathkin Marsh SWT, Clyde
A bit of an odd name "Grunt Whistle" but one of the 10 "innate" breeding postures that Teal have in common with other dabbling ducks, such as Mallard and Wigeon, as identified by Konrad Lorenz and other Ethologists. Comical to watch male Teal trying to out-do each other .... if one does a particular move the others repeat it.

Caddis for lunch: Little Grebe, 09-02-2023, Richard Whitson, James Hamilton Heritage Loch, East Kilbride, Clyde
After its dive, I initially thought the Little Grebe had just come up with a short black twig but soon realised it was a case-bearer grub of some sort, most likely a Caddis-fly I think, and the grebe proceeded to vigorously shake and flush the grub and eventually after a few tries had it free and down the hatch.
